Mind vs The Universe

We shall become what we think(meditate) upon.

We generally worry about a lot of things in life. Especially the things over which we have very little to no control & that mostly makes us suffer. It should be the mind over circumstances, not the other way around. If we’ll have control over our mind & heart, we’ll have the ability to choose one thought over another & eventually, we’ll have control over circumstantial conundrums.

A small tale to capture the essence of the idea:

**One fine spring day a disciple looked at some branches blowing in the wind. He asked his master, “Master, are the branches moving or is it the wind?” Not even glancing to where his pupil was pointing the master smiled and said, “That which moves is neither the branches nor the wind. It’s your heart and mind.”

One late autumn night, the disciple awoke to cry. So the master asked the disciple, “Did you have a nightmare?” “No.” “Did you have a sad dream?” “No,” said the disciple. “I had a sweet dream.” “Then why are you crying so sadly?” The disciple wiped his tears away and quietly answered, “Because the dream I had can’t come true.**

The master understands the power of the heart & mind over everything & uses that wisdom to alter the reality in his head & hence became free. While the disciple gave more power to the circumstances as he was crying over things he couldn’t get & didn’t acquired the ability to choose one thought over another which makes him burdened.

Take a moment to introspect & find what kind of person you are & most importantly whom you want to become, The disciple or The master.

You have power over your mind — not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength. — Marcus Aurelius.
